Although you may associate Texas with large open landscapes with cowboys and cattle, it also has beaches. Coastal Texas comprises of over 600 miles of surf and sand. Galveston Island is only an hour away from Houston, while Corpus Christi has naval tours of the USS Lexington on offer along with its beaches.
Texas also offers great camping sites such as the Big Bend National Park and the Panhandle Plains. The other popular destinations are Davis Mountains State Park, Garner State Park, and Enchanted Rock State Park.
The cuisine in Texas is some of the best that you will get anywhere in the US. The barbeque, which originated here, has been developed into a form of art. Each eatery that has on its menu, unique styles and secrets of spicing and marinating the meat dishes served. But there is a lot more than that. Chili is very popularly used and a Chili Cook-Off is held every year in Terlingua. Tex-Mex is another unique culinary experience here, wherein Mexican dishes are blended with Texan style.
Arizona: Warm and arid, comprising of mile upon mile of magnificent desert, you may dismiss Arizona as a travel destination. But don’t let that mislead you, for there is a plethora of incredible options on offer here, such as the famous Grand Canyon.
